US, Syrian forces target, destroy ISIS weapons sites in southern Syria

(MENAFN) According to military statements, US personnel working alongside Syria’s Interior Ministry dismantled more than 15 ISIS weapons storage locations in southern Syria during a coordinated four-day mission from Nov. 24 to 27.

Reports indicate that the joint teams operated throughout the Rif Damashq region, combining airstrikes with controlled ground detonations to locate and neutralize the hidden caches.

The operation destroyed more than 130 rockets and mortars, along with various rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, and materials commonly used to assemble improvised explosive devices.
Forces also reported seizing and eliminating illegal narcotics found at the sites.

A senior commander involved in the mission stated that the effort "ensures gains made against ISIS are lasting and the group is not able to regenerate or export terrorist attacks to the US homeland and around the world." He added, "We will remain vigilant and continue to aggressively pursue ISIS remnants in Syria."
